Swim the Challenge for Inspire
18/05/09
Inspire (Eden and Razzett Foundation) will hold the 8th edition of the Swimathon Challenge between Monday 18th May and Sunday 24th May 2009, at the indoor swimming pool of Razzett tal-Hbiberija and for the first time, at the MFA Swimming Pool in Ta’Qali.
Inspire, The Foundation for Inclusion, is the result of the merging of The Eden Foundation and Razzett tal-Hbiberija. The services and programmes provided by the Foundation address the educational, therapeutic, social and recreational needs of people with physical and learning disabilities, in order to achieve inclusion in society.
The scope behind the Swimathon Challenge is to promote healthy living amongst the local community through organised sports whilst also offering a challenging activity for those who like to push themselves and reach a goal, and ultimately raise the necessary funds to operate.
This year’s Swimathon includes two new challenges that can be taken up either by an individual or as a group. The first is swimming the Gozo channel distance (5.5km) in the comfort of a heated pool, or alternatively booking a lane and challenging friends to swimming the most laps in an hour. An official certificate will be handed out to all the participants as a sign of recognition for their support towards the foundation.
Inspire is asking the general public who supported the founding organizations to support the new venture by sending the text ‘SWIMATHON’ on 50618080 to donate €4.66. The organisation is also encouraging participation and any individual, company, association, club etc. can do this by booking a lane at one of the venues and collecting donations from friends and family for their participation.
The Swimathon Challenge is open from Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm, on Saturday between 8am and 5pm and on Sunday between 8am and noon. For more information please call Mr Renato Vella on 2189 0000 or send an email to renato.vella@inspire.org.mt.
